EDUC 286 - Principles & Practices of Teaching as a Profession

Credits: 3
This course introduces the basic elements of teaching, such as classroom management, literacy, diversity of learners, lesson planning, multicultural education, and teaching methodologies. Students observe in a public school setting, interview a teacher. Effective speaking and writing skills are an integral part of the assessment of students in this course. Students utilize professional teaching standards to assess their teaching styles and abilities as future teachers. Familiarity with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards is also a component of this course. Prerequisite: 32 Credits with a GPA of 2.75
