HIST 201 - 20th Century Asia Credits: 3 This course will examine the major events, ideas, and forces that have shaped the Asian world in the years after 1898. Special attention will be paid to the interaction of Western ideas of political freedom, economic development, and imperialism with the classical ideas of Asian societies. Demographic and other social cultural traits as well as the impact of modernization on traditional societies will likewise be assessed.
