MEDA 260 - Medical Assistant Capstone and Practicum

This course is designed to integrate the knowledge, skills, and techniques learned throughout the Medical Assistant program that is necessary for Medical Assistant students to sit for industry specific certifications examinations such as the Certified Medical Assistant - CMA (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant - RMA (AMT), and/or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - CCMA (NHA). In the lab setting, students will have the opportunity to review all the previously learned hands-on skills including vital signs, performing EKG, venipuncture, capillary puncture, urinalysis and other specimen collection and processing techniques. The practicum component provides students with 165 hours of hands-on work experience in a supervised ambulatory healthcare environment. Lab fee required.
