WELD 115 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding I


Credits: 3
This course covers equipment and proper setup of said equipment; while introducing students to electrodes, and electrode selection used in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Instruction in this course follows the American Welding Society (AWS) standards of acceptability and teaches student to develop hands on skills necessary to generate quality single and multiple pass welds in all positions while utilizing commonly used filler materials including low hydrogen, nonlow hydrogen, and iron powder electrodes.Prerequisite: Proficiency on the English and Basic Math portion of the Placement TestLab Fee Required Lab Fee Required.
