MEDA 140 - Pharmacology and Assisting with Minor Surgical Procedures


Credits: 3
This course introduces the basic principles of pharmacology, the study of drug interactions, routes of administration, and classes of drugs by body system. Students are introduced to the most commonly used medications. Emphasis is on building a working knowledge of pharmacology while increasing medical vocabulary. In this course, students will also have the opportunity to learn details the fundamentals of assisting with minor surgical office procedures. In the lab setting, students will learn to dispense and administer medication including via various routes including multiple injection techniques. They will also learn to identify various surgical instruments and practice performing instrument sanitization and sterilization. Lab fee required.
